Notes: The 1971 Denver minted Half Dollar was the most widely circulated of the 71 Half Dollars. This was the first year that the US Mint issued Kennedy Half Dollars in a not silver state. Anything after 1970 contains no silver. These coins are a copper-nickel musical composition, being a nickel jacket over a copper effect. Look for the DDO ( doubling die obverse erroneousness ) on the 1971 D version. Errors include obverse die breaks, struck on nickel planchet, struck on quarter planchet, murder center strikes up to 70 %, double strikes, struck on silver planchet, and clipped planchets. The 1971 Half Dollar struck on argent planchet means there are instances of this mint unintentionally minted in argent. If you think your 1971 Kennedy Half is silver front at the reeded edges, if there is a copper ring dead center this coin is not silver. Silver coins wont have rings of copper in the center field as they are not sandwiched .
You can assume a 1971 D Kennedy Half Dollar in modal condition will be worth around 50 cents, while one in certified mint state ( MS+ ) condition could bring deoxyadenosine monophosphate a lot as $35 at auction. This price does not reference any standard coin grading scale. so when we say average, we mean in a similar condition to early coins issued in 1971, and mint department of state mean it is certified MS+ by one of the top mint grading companies. *** [ ? ] .
